5th June 2023 – An eagerly anticipated and remarkable webinar titled "Work + Study + Success: Your Formula to a Tech Degree" was conducted on 5th June 2023 through a webinar. It featured a lineup of distinguished speakers who shared valuable insights and opportunities for graduating high school students interested in pursuing a degree in technology. The webinar aimed to explore the possibilities and provide guidance for those looking to pave their path to success in the tech industry. 

The esteemed speakers who graced the event included Parvin Kaur, Placement Director from eduCLaaS (Singapore); Alvin Joseph Fernandez, External Speaker Talent Acquisition Officer (Dubai, UAE); Dr. Patricia Lagunda, Institutional President of Baliuag University (Bulacan, Philippines); and Metta Eu, Operations Lead from eduCLaas (Malaysia). 

Ms. Parvin Kaur took the stage and highlighted the significance of practical experience and industry connections in shaping successful careers. Her insights shed light on how work-study programmes can significantly enhance career prospects for aspiring individuals. 

Following Ms. Kaur, Mr. Alvin Joseph Fernandez shared his expertise and shed light on the increasing demand for tech talent. His talk inspired participants as he showcased the wide range of possibilities that a degree in technology can offer. 

Mr. Metta Eu, the Operations Lead from eduCLaas, then took the floor and shared valuable insights about the work-study degree programme. Participants found it fascinating to learn how this programme provides a clear pathway to developing industry-ready skills and opens doors to a rewarding career. 

Finally, Dr. Patricia Lagunda, the Institutional President of Baliuag University, provided an in-depth overview of the work-study degree programme at the institution. Her presentation demonstrated how the programme equips students with the necessary skills and experiences to succeed in the tech industry. 

After the enlightening sessions, a panel discussion commenced, featuring all the esteemed speakers. The discussion delved deeper into the topics covered and explored the synergies between their perspectives. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a lively discussion. 

The panelists shared personal anecdotes and examples of how practical experience had helped shape their own career paths in the technology industry. They also provided valuable insights on positioning oneself as a desirable candidate for tech industry roles, specific strategies and recommendations for students in similar situations, and the essential soft skills that work-study programmes focus on developing. Furthermore, the panel discussed how eduCLaaS integrates real-world scenarios to enhance students' problem-solving and teamwork abilities. The unique qualities of Baliuag University as an institution were also highlighted, setting it apart from others. Lastly, the panelists addressed the question of whether professions such as Data Scientists and Data Analysts are in danger or if they are future-proof with the rise of AI, like ChatGPT. 

The webinar provided an excellent platform for aspiring tech professionals to gain valuable insights, engage in meaningful discussions, and broaden their understanding of the industry. Participants left with a clearer vision of how to navigate their way towards a successful tech career.
